Rudy Giuliani says “Me Too” to Ron Paul

Ron Paul has said several times in the debates and in interviews that the US should be focusing on Pakistan and going after Bin Laden rather than spending an endless amount of money in Iraq. Now Rudy Giuliani says the following:
The United States has been distracted “for a while” by military setbacks and political heat surrounding the Iraq war, Giuliani said, not focusing enough on al-Qaeda’s resurgence in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
“This cannot be like a horror movie,” he said. “You know, in the horror movie you kill the monster, and the hand re-emerges. And if you’re not looking, the hand grows back and then the monster’s there again. That cannot be allowed to happen.”
“I said it a long time ago … America is too consumed with Iraq,” he said. “We’ve got to be patient and committed (in Iraq), but we’ve got to multitask. We’ve got to have conversations beyond Iraq. We’ve got to talk about Iran — Iran is more dangerous than Iraq — and we have to get the job done in Afghanistan and in Pakistan.”
In my opinion Rudy is the horror movie that won’t go away. While he agrees with Ron Paul on focusing more on Pakistan and Bin Laden, he still preaches we need to stay in Iraq and Afghanistan. Oh but now he wants us to also focus on Pakistan and Iran. Sounds like he wants to keep pushing for empire building, spreading our troops and dollars thinner and thinner. Where will it end Rudy?
Meanwhile Ron Paul says we should focus on Pakistan with the specific purpose of bringing Bin Laden to justice while bringing our troops home from Iraq immediately and safely. More generally he advocates a non-interventionist foreign policy to keep our money sound and our troops efficient.
If I were running for president and I saw that the current empire loving president’s approval rating was one of the lowest ever recorded I would want to distance myself a bit from that type of policy. Not Rudy. From his words today he is telling us: I will be just like George W. Bush, vote for me! Vote for higher taxes, more government, more war, and less liberties. I’m your man. 9-11. 9-11. 9-11.
Then there’s Ron Paul who steadfastly opposes this type of demagoguery in both words and action.
As Ron Paul says frequently your choice depends upon what you think the role of government ought to be. If you think the US should be the conquering king, a vote for Rudy is in order. On the other hand, if you think the US should stay out of entangling alliances, declare/wage war when absolutely necessary, protect our borders and our natural rights then you can’t go wrong voting for Ron Paul.
