In between all of the Paris Hilton and Britney Spears gossip the entertainment magazines have a mind-numbing filler page called “Separated At Birth”. The idea is to match up two celebrities who look so similar that they could be twins.

Ron Paul Is Gandalf
It occurred to me how appropriate the comparison is. Ron Paul is a calming wizard of economics and public policy. The intelligent among us are still enamored with Ron Paul’s dedication to smaller government and liberty for all. Join the freedom fray.

That’s right, the legendary Bobby Knight and John McCain not only share their beady-eyed, white hair looks but they also share the same quick-to-anger temperament. I can picture John McCain trying to throw a chair across the oval office after Vladimir Putin hangs up on him. How can anyone vote for such a maniac?
Barack Obama doesn’t look like anyone I can think of, but he certainly sounds like someone. Apparently, I’m not the only one who made this observation. Who does “BaROCK” Obama sound like? Find out here. I can’t vote for a candidate with inane professional wrestler rhetoric.
Bob Barr is certainly unique, right down to his “liberty” mustache and thick glasses. Bob Barr just sounds and looks like Bob Barr. But his message is familiar to liberty lovers. His message is most similar to Gandalf, er, Ron Paul’s message. If Bob Barr weren’t running for President I’d probably write in “Gandalf” in protest. As it turns out I will happily vote for more freedom in November by voting for Barr. Although, voting for Paris Hilton or Britney Spears would certainly make the next four years more interesting.

Yeah that really doesn’t look like Gandalf (see a photo of Gandalf that isn’t doctored). But the McCain/Knight comparison I can definitely see.

I’m waiting for someone with far greater video editing skill than I to post a YouTube mashup of LTR: At the exit of Moria, showing a Ron Paul-face superimposed on Gandalf’s with a label over the firebeast (Balrog) that flashes up in white letters “CFR” overtop of him, and Ron Paul shouting “YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!!”
